Minimum configuration for Packet Tracer 8.2

The following configuration is the minimum system requirements recommended by Cisco to install and run Packet Tracer 8.2 (64 bits):

  • OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1, 10, 11 (64-bit), Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (64-bit), or macOS 10.14 or newer.
  • CPU: intel or AMD x86-64 (64 bits) CPU.
  • RAM: 4GB of free RAM.
  • Disk Space: 1.4 GB of free disk space.

Recommended configuration

For a smooth network simulation experience, it's recommended to have a more rubust hardware configuration:

  • Operating System: The supported operating systems remain the same as the minimum requirements (Microsoft Windows 8.1, 10, 11 (64-bit), Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (64-bit), or macOS 10.14 or newer.)
  • CPU: An intel or AMD x86-64 (64 bits) CPU is still required
  • RAM: 8GB or more of RAM will significantly improve network simulation performance and will allow you to create more complex network scenarios. There is no way to hard limit the Cisco Packet Tracer amount of memory that is used to create and configure  emulated network devices. Large networks with complex protocols running may require more memory to run.
  • Disk Space: 1.4 GB of free disk space is recommended, but keep in mind to provide additional disk space for saving and backing up projects.
